What makes pressure vessel plate different
P-grades to EN 10028-2 are fine-grain, normalized steels whose yield strength is guaranteed not only at room temperature but at elevated temperatures (up to 400 °C for P265GH, 500 °C for 16Mo3), with tight limits on carbon, sulphur and phosphorus, controlled aluminium for grain size and a −20 °C impact test. They are supplied with EN 10204 3.2 certificates witnessed by a notified body, which is what the Pressure Equipment Directive, ASME Section VIII (for A516) and most national boiler codes require. Applications: fire-tube and water-tube boilers, steam drums, pressure vessels, air receivers, LPG and ammonia tanks, heat-exchanger shells and tube sheets, autoclaves, and process vessels in refineries and food plants.

Certification: 3.2, PED, UT, HIC
Standard delivery is EN 10204 3.1 normalized; for pressure equipment we supply 3.2 with the inspector of your choice (TÜV, BV, LR, DNV, SGS) witnessing the tensile, impact and elevated-temperature tests. Ultrasonic testing to EN 10160 S1/E1 or S2/E2, through-thickness Z25/Z35, and HIC testing (NACE TM0284) for sour service are available; plates are hard-stamped with heat, plate number and inspector's mark. All mills are PED-approved (Annex I 4.3) and hold AD 2000 W0 approval.
Cutting, bevelling, rolling and dished ends
Plasma and oxy-fuel cutting to shell developments and nozzle cut-outs; bevelling for full-penetration welds; four-roll plate rolling to 40 mm × 3 000 mm for shells and cones (see rolling and bending); dished ends (torispherical, elliptical) to 3 000 mm diameter from partner presses; tube sheets drilled to drawing. Rolled shells ship nested with heat traceability transferred under inspection.
P265GH vs S235JR / S355J2 — why not structural plate
S235JR and P265GH look similar at room temperature, but structural plate has no guaranteed strength at 300–400 °C, no −20 °C impact, wider sulphur limits and no PED certification, so a boiler or vessel inspector will reject it. What is P265GH?
A normalized non-alloy pressure-vessel steel to EN 10028-2 (1.0425, old HII): 265 MPa yield at 20 °C, 175 MPa guaranteed at 300 °C, tensile 410–530, impact 27 J at −20 °C — the most used boiler and vessel plate in Europe, equivalent to ASTM A516 Grade 60.
What is the difference between P265GH and A516 Grade 70?
A516 Gr. 70 has higher strength (260 MPa yield, 485–620 tensile) and corresponds to P355GH; P265GH matches A516 Gr. 60. Dual-certified plates P355GH/A516-70 are available for projects mixing EN and ASME.
When do I need 16Mo3?
For design temperatures between 400 and 500 °C — superheaters, steam drums, hot-oil systems — where the 0.3% molybdenum keeps the creep and elevated-temperature strength.
What is a 3.2 certificate?
An EN 10204 inspection certificate in which the tests are witnessed and countersigned by an independent inspector (TÜV, BV, LR, DNV) or the purchaser's representative — required by PED and most boiler codes.
Can I use S235JR for an air receiver?
Not for a pressure vessel under PED or a national boiler code: the inspector requires a P-grade with elevated-temperature properties and 3.2 certification. For non-coded low-pressure tanks S235JR is common.
Do you supply rolled shells and dished ends?
