What is cold rolled steel sheet?
Cold rolled sheet is hot rolled coil that has been pickled to remove scale, rolled again at room temperature to 30–70 % of its thickness, annealed to restore ductility and skin-passed (temper rolled) to fix the surface and flatness. The cold reduction is what gives it the three properties buyers pay for: a thickness tolerance of ±0.03–0.05 mm instead of ±0.15 mm, a smooth surface with a controlled roughness (matt 0.6–1.9 µm Ra for painting, bright < 0.6 µm for plating) and a thickness range that starts at 0.30 mm, where hot rolled stops at 1.2–1.5 mm. In the trade it has as many names as markets: DKP in Turkey (from *dekape*, pickled), CRCA (cold rolled close annealed) in India and the Gulf, SPCC in Japan and South-East Asia, CR1–CR4 in the UK, St 12–14 in older German drawings — all covering the same EN 10130 grades DC01 to DC06, which differ only in how far they can be drawn. It is the sheet of everything pressed and painted: appliance panels, electrical cabinets, steel furniture, car body parts, drums and pails, HVAC housings, shelving, door and radiator panels, and it is the substrate of galvanized and pre-painted coil. It rusts if left bare — cold rolled is stored dry, oiled and used indoors or painted.
Cold rolled grades — one page each
Every EN 10130 grade we stock has its own page with chemistry, mechanical properties, forming limits, surface and the month's band: DC01 (the general-purpose DKP sheet and our largest stock item), DC03 (drawing quality, non-ageing), DC04 (deep drawing, the automotive and appliance standard), DC05 (extra deep drawing) and DC06 (IF steel, the most formable). Cold rolled box section and pipe made from the same coil are on the cold rolled box section and DKP pipe pages; the hot rolled pickled alternative is HRPO.

Thickness, gauge and weight table
Cold rolled sheet is ordered by millimetre in Turkey and Europe, by gauge in the Gulf and Africa where British and US habits persist; the table converts both and gives the weight of the standard sheet sizes at 7.85 kg/dm³.

Above 3.0 mm the economical product is hot rolled pickled and oiled (HRPO); cold rolled 3.0–4.0 mm is available to order at a premium. Gauge values are US standard sheet gauge; UK SWG differs — state mm on the order.
Surface finish, roughness and oiling
| Surface | Description | Roughness Ra | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| A (matt, standard) | skin-passed with shot-blast textured rolls; small defects allowed | 0.6–1.9 µm | painting, powder coating, general pressing, hidden parts |
| B (best quality) | one face free of defects that impair a uniform paint or plating finish | matt 0.6–1.9 µm or bright ≤ 0.6 µm | visible appliance and cabinet panels, enamelling |
| Bright (b) | polished rolls, mirror-like | ≤ 0.6 µm | chrome / nickel plating, decorative parts |
| Semi-bright (g) | between matt and bright | 0.6–0.9 µm | PPGI and GI substrate, electro-galvanizing |
| Rough (r) | extra-textured for paint adhesion | > 1.9 µm | heavy powder coating, adhesive bonding |
Sheet is delivered lightly oiled (0.5–1.5 g/m²) as corrosion protection for 3–6 months in dry storage; dry (unoiled) on request for immediate painting or welding lines. Skin-pass also removes the yield-point elongation that causes Lüders lines on drawn parts — order 'non-ageing' (DC03 and up) if parts are pressed months after delivery.
Standard sizes and coil data
Coils come 1 000, 1 250 and 1 500 mm wide (1 000 and 1 250 in stock, 1 500 to order), inner diameter 508 or 610 mm, outer diameter up to 1 900 mm, 5–25 t; mills supply 8–12 t coils by default and we split or re-coil to 3–5 t for smaller decoilers. Cut sheet is stocked 1 000 × 2 000, 1 250 × 2 500 and 1 500 × 3 000 mm and cut to any length up to 6 000 mm; standard pack 2–3 t on timber skids. Slit strip from 20 mm wide in coils of 500–3 000 kg, ID 508. Widths narrower than 600 mm and thicknesses below 0.30 mm are EN 10139 narrow strip, supplied to order.
Cold rolled for cabinets, appliances and furniture
Electrical enclosures, server racks, switchgear panels, lockers, filing cabinets, steel doors and radiator panels are the bread and butter of DC01 and DC03 in 0.8–2.0 mm: the sheet is laser- or punch-cut, folded on a press brake, spot- or MIG-welded and powder-coated, and the matt A surface gives the coating something to grip. Appliance makers — refrigerator doors and side panels, washing-machine cabinets, oven bodies — use DC04 in 0.5–0.8 mm for the drawn parts and DC01 for flat panels, mostly as B-surface sheet that will be enamelled or painted without filling. Furniture and shelving take 0.6–1.2 mm slit strip through roll-formers. We supply these customers as cut sheet on skids in mixed thicknesses per container, with a 3.1 certificate per coil and, on request, surface roughness on the certificate.
Cold rolled for drawing, automotive and drums
Deep-drawn parts — sinks, pails, drum ends, filter housings, wheel covers, fuel tanks, oil sumps, body brackets — need the low yield, high elongation and high r-value of DC04, DC05 and DC06: the steel must flow into the die without thinning or tearing, and must not show stretcher strains. These grades are aluminium-killed (DC04) or interstitial-free titanium-stabilised (DC06), skin-passed to 0.8–1.5 % and delivered non-ageing so that they can be stored before pressing. Drum makers use DC01 / DC03 in 0.8–1.2 mm coil for bodies and DC04 for ends; automotive tier suppliers mostly DC04 0.7–1.5 mm with surface B. We hold DC04 in 0.6–2.0 mm and bring DC05 / DC06 to order from Erdemir and EU mills in 4–6 weeks.

Width tolerance +0/+3 mm (cut edge) or +0/+6 mm (mill edge); length +0/+3 mm on our cut-to-length line. Special tolerances and flatness on request from the mill; our leveller flattens sheet for laser cutting to 3 mm per 2 m.
Cold rolled steel price per ton and per kg
Cold rolled coil is priced per metric ton from the Turkish mill list, about 60–90 USD/t above hot rolled coil for the pickling, cold reduction and annealing, and 100–150 USD/t below galvanized. DC01 in 0.40–3.0 mm is the base; DC03 adds about 20 USD/t, DC04 40 USD/t, DC05 / DC06 60–80 USD/t; surface B, special tolerances and slitting are added per ton; cut sheet carries 15–25 USD/t over coil. The bands below are the month's indicative FOB Istanbul ranges from our wholesale list; per kg = per ton ÷ 1 000. Send thickness, width, grade, form and tonnage for a firm price within a working day — a full 20' container (about 21 t, three coils or 8 skids of sheet) is the price-efficient lot.
Bands from our weekly export list (September 2026), FOB Istanbul, full-container quantities, excluding freight and certificates. Firm price per project on RFQ within one working day.
Export and packing
Coils are shipped eye-to-sky on wooden cradles, wrapped in VCI paper and PE with steel strapping and edge protectors, 5–20 t each — three coils or 21 t per 20' container, six per 40'; cut sheet on timber skids of 2–3 t with paper interleaving, VCI and a PE hood, 8–10 skids per 20'. Cold rolled is more moisture-sensitive than galvanized: we pack with desiccant for sea freight to the Gulf and West Africa and advise unloading into a dry warehouse within days of arrival. Trucks to Iraq, the Caucasus and the Balkans load 22–24 t of coil or sheet. HS code 7209.16 / 7209.17 (coil) and 7209.26 / 7209.27 (sheet).
Certificates and documents
Each coil carries the mill's EN 10204 3.1 inspection certificate with heat number, chemistry, yield, tensile, elongation, r and n values where the grade requires them, surface class and oiling; cut sheet and slit strip are traced to the parent coil number. On request: 3.2 certification by SGS, BV or TÜV, surface roughness measurement, RoHS / REACH declarations for appliance exporters, and material safety data for the oil. Certificates of origin and, for Saudi, Nigerian and Kenyan shipments, SASO, SONCAP and PVoC conformity are arranged with the forwarder.
How to order

Frequently asked questions
What is DKP sheet?
DKP is the Turkish trade name for cold rolled steel sheet (from 'dekape', pickled) — the same product as CRCA in the Gulf and India, SPCC in Asia and CR sheet in the UK, made to EN 10130 grades DC01–DC06 in 0.30–3.0 mm.
What is the difference between cold rolled and hot rolled steel sheet?
Cold rolled is hot rolled coil that has been pickled, rolled cold, annealed and skin-passed: thinner (from 0.30 mm), smoother, flatter, tighter in tolerance and ready to paint, at about 60–90 USD/t more. Hot rolled is for 1.5 mm and up where surface does not matter.
Which cold rolled grade should I order?
DC01 for bending, punching, welding and painting; DC03 for moderate drawing; DC04 for deep-drawn appliance and automotive parts; DC05 / DC06 for the most severe draws. If in doubt send the part drawing.
What thicknesses of cold rolled sheet do you stock?
0.40–3.0 mm in DC01 and 0.6–2.0 mm in DC04, widths 1 000 and 1 250 mm, as coil, cut sheet and slit strip; 0.30 mm, 1 500 mm wide and DC05 / DC06 to order.
Is CRCA the same as cold rolled steel?
Yes — CRCA (cold rolled close annealed) is the Indian and Gulf name for annealed cold rolled sheet; it corresponds to EN 10130 DC01–DC04 / JIS SPCC–SPCE.
Does cold rolled steel rust?
Yes — it has no coating. It is delivered lightly oiled for 3–6 months of dry storage and must be painted, powder-coated, plated or used indoors; for outdoor use choose galvanized (GI) or PPGI.
What is the price of cold rolled steel per ton?
About 60–90 USD/t above hot rolled coil and 100–150 USD/t below galvanized; DC01 is the base and drawing grades add 20–80 USD/t. See the indicative FOB Istanbul bands above; firm price per size list within a working day.
Can you cut, slit and blank cold rolled sheet?
Yes — cut-to-length 0.30–6 mm up to 6 m, slitting from 20 mm wide, sheared or laser-cut blanks to drawing, on our own lines in Dilovası.
What is the weight of a 1.0 mm cold rolled sheet?
7.85 kg/m²: a 1 250 × 2 500 mm sheet weighs 24.5 kg, a 1 000 × 2 000 sheet 15.7 kg. The full table by thickness and gauge is above.
What surface should I specify for painting or plating?
Matt surface A for powder coating and general painting; B (best) for visible panels and enamelling; bright for chrome or nickel plating; specify dry (unoiled) if the line has no degreasing.
