What is steel grating?
Steel grating is an open floor made of parallel load-bearing flat bars (25–50 mm deep, 3–5 mm thick) joined at right angles by cross bars, leaving 60–80 % open area so water, light, snow and dust fall through while people, trolleys and — with heavier bars — vehicles pass over it. Two joining methods exist: press-welded grating, where twisted or square cross bars are resistance-welded into the bearing bars under pressure (the industrial standard, the strongest per kilogram), and press-locked grating, where notched cross bars are pressed into notched bearing bars without welding (a cleaner look for architecture and sun screens). Both are hot-dip galvanized after fabrication, so every cut and weld is zinc-coated. It is the floor of pipe racks, boiler houses, substations, treatment plants, jetties, mezzanines and stair towers, and the cover of trenches and drains.

For orientation only — the bearing bars must span between supports. Walkways to EN ISO 14122-2 need ≥ 2 kN/m² (and a 1.5 kN point load); plant floors 5 kN/m²; trench covers under forklifts need heavy-duty bars sized per axle load. We confirm the section with a DIN 24537 calculation for your span before quoting.
Platforms cut to drawing
Send the platform layout (PDF or DWG) and we cut, notch and band every piece on our own laser and saw lines in Dilovası: cut-outs for columns and pipes with banding bar welded around, toe plates (kick plates) 100 × 5 mm, hinged or lift-out sections, curved pieces, and the fixing-clip count. Each piece is stamped with the drawing position number and the panels are shipped in the erection order, so site work is bolting only. Panels come with the banding bar (end bar) welded on both ends; unbanded cut panels are cheaper for straight runs cut on site.
Stair treads
Grating stair treads are made from the same panel with a serrated or checker-plate nosing welded to the front edge and drilled end plates (carrier plates) for bolting to the stringer. Standard widths 600–1 200 mm, depths 240 and 270 mm, bearing bars 30 × 3 or 30 × 5, in hot-dip galvanized or stainless; two M12 bolt holes per end plate at 40 mm from the edge. We quote treads per piece and can match them to the platform grating in one order.

Drain and trench covers
Trench and channel covers are grating panels cut to the channel width plus a galvanized angle frame cast into the concrete. For pedestrian and light-vehicle areas we use 30 × 3 to 40 × 5 press-welded grating at 30 mm pitch; under forklifts and trucks, heavy-duty 50 × 5 to 100 × 10 bars at 30–40 mm pitch, or a compound grating with checker plate. Heel-proof pitch (≤ 12 mm gap) is available in press-locked form for public walkways.
Tolerances and quality
Panels are fabricated to DIN 24537-1: length ±5 mm, width ±3 mm, bearing-bar height ±0.5 mm, flatness ≤ 3 mm per metre; twisted cross bars fully welded at every intersection (press-welded) or fully pressed (press-locked). Galvanizing to EN ISO 1461 with coating thickness measured per lot; stainless grades supplied with EN 10204 3.1 certificates. Every shipment includes the panel list with dimensions, weights and position numbers.
Price
Grating is quoted per m² for standard panels and per piece for cut platforms and treads; the main drivers are the bearing-bar section (steel weight per m²), the pitch, the finish and the amount of cutting. Standard 30 × 3 30/100 HDG panels are the cheapest per m²; cut-to-drawing platforms add the laser and banding work; stainless is priced by weight. Export and packing
Panels are strapped flat on timber skids of 1–1.5 t, stair treads and clips boxed; platform pieces bundled per drawing position. HS code 7308.90. 40' HC takes about 20–24 t of grating (≈ 700–900 m² of 30 × 3), 20' about 10 t.

Is the grating galvanized before or after welding?
After — the whole fabricated panel, including cut edges, banding bars and cut-outs, is hot-dip galvanized to EN ISO 1461 (≥ 55 µm on 3–6 mm bars, ≥ 70 µm on thicker bars), which is why it lasts 25–40 years in industrial air without paint.
Can you cut the grating to my platform drawing?
Yes — we cut, notch and band every piece on our own laser and saw lines from your PDF/DWG layout, stamp each piece with its position number, add toe plates and clips, and ship in erection order.
What is the standard panel size?
1 000 × 6 000 mm (bearing bars along the 6 000 mm length) is the mill panel; we also stock 1 000 × 3 000 and cut any size — bearing-bar direction must always run between the supports.
How is steel grating fixed to the steel structure?
With galvanized saddle clips (top clip + M8 bolt + bottom hook, four per panel) on I-beams and angles, or by welding lugs for permanent platforms; stair treads bolt through their end plates with two M12 bolts each.
