What is RAL 6005 PPGI sheet?
RAL 6005, Moosgrün / moss green, is a deep green with a slight blue cast — dark enough (LRV about 8 %) to be recessive against woodland and hedgerows, which is exactly why rural planning guidance across Europe names it, along with RAL 6009 fir green and 6007 bottle green, as an approved roof and cladding colour for agricultural and countryside buildings. On PPGI it is supplied as 25 µm polyester over DX51D+Z100 (Z140 for exposed roofs), semi-gloss or matt, with a grey backing coat; green pigments (phthalocyanine and chrome-oxide blends) are light-fast, so PE gives 10–15 years of colour, with SMP/PVDF for longer warranties. Its market is agricultural sheds, barns, stables and riding halls, forestry and park buildings, camp-site and sports-ground structures, garden buildings, and — the largest single use — welded-mesh and slatted fence panels, gates and posts, where 6005 has been the standard green for fifty years. As a dark colour it absorbs heat like 7016 (surface 65–75 °C in full sun) and needs insulation or ventilation below a roof. We stock 0.45 and 0.50 mm coil, roll trapezoidal and corrugated sheet and fence-panel strip from it, and fold matching flashings; 0.40 mm and 0.60–0.70 mm to order.

Forming, cutting and handling
Rolls, folds and slits like any PE-coated PPGI (T-bend ≤ 2T); mechanical cutting only. Dark green shows scratches as silver lines — keep the film on, use padded tooling on fence-panel lines, and touch up with matching 6005 paint. Fence and gate fabricators combining 6005 sheet with 6005 powder-coated mesh should compare samples: the two processes give a slightly different gloss.
Where it is used
- Agricultural sheds, barns, stables and riding halls
- Forestry, park, camp-site and sports-ground buildings
- Slatted, louvred and welded-mesh fence panels, gates and posts
- Garden buildings, carports and pergola roofs
- Trapezoidal and corrugated roofing in landscape-sensitive sites
- Flashings, gutters and trims matching green roofs
RAL 6005 vs 6009 vs 7016
RAL 6009 fir green is darker and yellower, closer to conifer woodland; 6005 is the bluer, more common stock green and the one fence-panel systems use. Where a neutral dark colour is acceptable, RAL 7016 anthracite is the modern alternative; for tile-coloured rural roofs, RAL 3009.

Frequently asked questions
What colour is RAL 6005?
Moss green — a dark green with a slight blue cast, the standard recessive green for agricultural roofs, park buildings and fence panels.
Is RAL 6005 accepted by rural planning rules?
It is one of the most commonly named or accepted recessive colours for countryside buildings, along with 6009, 6007 and dark browns and greys — check the specific condition.
RAL 6005 or RAL 6009 for a roof?
6009 fir green is darker and yellower; 6005 is bluer, slightly lighter and stocked. Both are accepted as recessive greens.
Does RAL 6005 fade?
Green pigments are light-fast; standard PE holds colour 10–15 years, SMP/PVDF 20–25 years.
Can you slit RAL 6005 for fence panels?
Yes — stock coil slit to 100–300 mm strips in 0.45–0.60 mm, matching 6005 powder-coated mesh.
