Mirror Stainless Steel Tube

A mirror tube is bought for the reflection and pays for it in handling: it arrives in film, it is cut through the film, and it goes on the wall before the film comes off. For lobbies, boutiques and signage nothing else gives the same shine.

What is Mirror stainless steel tube?

Mirror tube is produced by taking a satin-polished tube through successively finer belts (400, 600) and finishing with cloth buffing wheels and polishing compound until the surface reflects an image without distortion — designated No. 8 in the US system, 2P in EN 10088-2, 8K in the Asian trade, Ra below 0.05 µm. The base tube is the same welded 304 or 316 ornamental tube as satin tube, with the weld ground flush before polishing; walls 1–1.5 mm are typical because a thicker wall does not improve the look and the polishing cost is per surface, not per kilo. Mirror is the finish of luxury interiors — hotel lobbies, boutiques, showrooms, lifts, restaurant and bar railings, display stands, signage and lettering supports, furniture legs and decorative screens — and the necessary base for PVD (physical vapour deposition) colouring, in which titanium-nitride and related coatings a few tenths of a micron thick turn the tube gold, rose-gold, champagne, bronze or black while keeping the mirror depth; PVD tube is ordered per colour and size in lots of 100 pieces and arrives in 2–4 weeks. The disadvantages are practical: every fingerprint, water spot and scratch shows, the finish cannot be renewed on site (only re-polished in the shop), and welds must be hidden or re-buffed by a specialist. We stock 304 mirror in round Ø 12–101.6 mm and square 12 × 12 to 80 × 80 mm, the handrail sizes in 316 mirror for coastal projects, and matching mirror elbows, end caps and flanges.

Weight table — round mirror tube (kg/m and per 6 m)

Mirror tube is normally 1–1.5 mm wall; heavier walls to order.

PVD coatings are 0.3–0.5 µm ceramic layers (TiN, ZrN, TiCN) — colour-fast indoors for decades, scratch-resistant, not suitable for abrasive cleaning.

Lengths and stock

304 mirror round Ø 12–101.6 mm × 1–1.5 mm and square 12 × 12 to 80 × 80 × 1–1.5 mm in 6 m from stock; 316 mirror in Ø 38.1–50.8 and 40 × 40; PVD colours and super-mirror to order in 2–4 weeks. Matching mirror fittings (elbows, end caps, flanges, glass clamps) from stock.

Handling, cutting and joining

Cut with a fine-tooth cold saw or tube laser through the film; deburr inward. Bending is possible on mandrel benders but marks the mirror — bend before polishing where you can, or design with fittings. Joints are best made with internal sleeves, adhesives or hidden mechanical fixings; where welding is unavoidable, TIG with purge, then grind, sand through 400–600 and re-buff — a specialist job. Keep the film on until final clean-up; clean with microfibre and glass cleaner only, never abrasives; wear gloves.

Where it is used

  • Hotel, restaurant and retail interiors — railings, screens, trims
  • Lift cars, doors and reveals
  • Signage, lettering supports and display stands
  • Furniture legs, frames and decorative panels
  • PVD gold and black tube for luxury and hospitality projects
  • Mosque, palace and ceremonial-hall decoration

Mirror vs satin — the practical choice

Satin tube is the default for anything touched daily — it hides marks and can be repaired; mirror is chosen for effect and protected accordingly. Both are the same 304/316 tube underneath, and the same square tube and round pipe sizes apply.

Price

Mirror tube carries a polishing premium of about 15–20 % over satin and PVD colours roughly double the tube price; 316 adds 40 %. The bands below are the month\'s indicative FOB Istanbul ranges for 304 mirror and for 316 / PVD tube. Fittings per piece.

Export and packing

Mirror tube is double-wrapped in PE film with foam separators and packed only in wooden crates (never loose bundles), 200–500 kg per crate, labelled fragile-finish; a 20' takes 10–12 t crated, a 40' HC 16–18 t. PVD tube is crated per colour. HS 7306.40 / 7306.61.

Certificates

Mirror and PVD tube ship with the strip mill's EN 10204 3.1 certificate, the tube mill's size and finish record and, for PVD, the coating batch reference and colour sample; a polished sample piece is sent before production for large projects.

How to order

Specify grade, shape and size, wall, finish (mirror / super-mirror / PVD colour), length, quantity, matching fittings and delivery; PVD orders need all sizes of a project listed together for one coating batch.

Frequently asked questions

What is mirror finish on stainless tube?

A buffed, reflective No. 8 / 2P / 8K surface with Ra below 0.05 µm — the tube reflects an image without distortion; used for decorative interiors, signage and as the base for PVD colours.

Can mirror tube be used outdoors?

In 316 yes, for signage and coastal decoration; it needs regular cleaning because every mark shows, and PVD colours should be kept from chlorinated cleaners.

What is PVD gold stainless tube?

Mirror (or satin) stainless tube coated by physical vapour deposition with a 0.3–0.5 µm titanium-nitride ceramic layer that gives a colour-fast gold, rose-gold, bronze or black finish.

Can a scratched mirror tube be repaired on site?

No — mirror finishes are re-polished in the workshop; protect the tube with its film until the site is finished.

What sizes of mirror tube are in stock?

304 mirror round Ø 12–101.6 mm and square 12–80 mm in 1–1.5 mm, 6 m; 316 mirror in handrail sizes; PVD colours to order in 2–4 weeks.
