What is DX52D galvanized steel?
DX52D is the first EN 10346 grade with a guaranteed yield range — 140 to 300 MPa — and a minimum elongation of 26 %, which is what a press shop needs to predict spring-back and drawing behaviour. It is produced from a cleaner, lower-carbon heat than DX51D (C ≤ 0.12 %, P ≤ 0.10 %) on a cold-rolled substrate (the mill may mark it DC-based), then hot-dip galvanized with the same Z100–Z275 coatings. The result is a sheet that draws into shallow pans, embossed panels and stiffened doors, forms hems and flanges without edge cracking, and gives a smooth surface for painting. It sits between the commodity DX51D and the deep-drawing DX53D/DX54D in both cost and formability; for most enclosure, appliance and HVAC pressings it is the economical choice. Substrate thickness 0.40–3.0 mm; supplied with minimised spangle (M) and surface quality B for parts that will be painted.

Forming, welding and painting
Shallow drawing and stretch-forming with draw ratios up to about 1.8, embossing and beading without orange-peel thanks to the fine grain; use zinc-compatible lubricant and polished tools to avoid galling. Hems close flat (0 × t). Spot and projection welding as for DX51D with fume extraction; MAG on thicker gauges with zinc-rich repair. For painting specify quality B, minimised spangle and passivation C or a chromate-free pretreatment; powder coating adheres well after alkaline degreasing.
Where it is used
- Pressed enclosure doors, panels and switchgear parts
- Water-heater and boiler jackets
- HVAC pans, drip trays and stiffened plenums
- Appliance housings and washing-machine panels
- Embossed cladding and shutter slats
- Shallow-drawn trays, boxes and lids
DX52D vs DX51D vs DX53D
DX51D has no yield guarantee and is for bending; DX52D guarantees 140–300 MPa and 26 % elongation for shallow drawing; DX53D narrows the window (140–260 MPa) and raises elongation to 30 % for deep drawing. Price steps are about 20 USD/t each. Order the lowest grade that forms the part without splitting — most enclosure pressings are DX52D territory.
Price
DX52D is priced about 20 USD/t over DX51D of the same thickness and coating; the bands below are indicative FOB Istanbul for mill-order coil. Slitting and cut-to-length in Dilovası are extra.

Certificates and testing
DX52D galvanized steel ships with EN 10204 3.1 certificates cross-referenced to the stencilled heat numbers. Where the project requires it we arrange 3.2 certification with Lloyd's, BV, TÜV or SGS, ultrasonic examination to EN 10160 and Charpy testing at the temperature you specify.
How to order

Frequently asked questions
What is DX52D?
The drawing-quality hot-dip galvanized steel of EN 10346 (1.0350): guaranteed yield 140–300 MPa, elongation ≥ 26 %, for pressed and shallow-drawn parts; coating Z100–Z275.
What is the difference between DX51D and DX52D?
DX52D has a guaranteed yield window and 26 % elongation with lower carbon and phosphorus; DX51D is the bending grade without a yield guarantee. DX52D costs about 20 USD/t more.
What is the ASTM equivalent of DX52D?
ASTM A653 FS Type B (Forming Steel); JIS G3302 SGCD1.
Is DX52D in stock?
No — it is rolled to order in 2–3 weeks; DX51D is the stock grade and covers bending and roll-forming.
