Trapezoidal Sheet 45/333

Fewer purlins is cheaper steel: with 45/333 at 3.5 m spacing a roof needs a third fewer purlins than with T38. Long-span sheds, hangars and re-roofing jobs over old timber trusses are where this profile earns its place.

What is Trapezoidal sheet 45/333?

The 45/333 belongs to the family of deep, wide-pitch trapezoidals (45/333, 50/250, 60/240 …) that European mills developed for roofs where purlins are far apart: three 45 mm ribs at 333 mm centres with 250 mm-wide pans, a 1 000 mm cover from a 1 250 mm coil, and — because the pans are wide — usually a small stiffening groove in each pan to stop drumming and oil-canning. Section depth is what gives a sheet its span: at 0.70 mm the 45/333 spans about 3.4 m under 0.75 kN/m² against 2.9 m for the T38, and at 1.0 mm it passes 4 m, so a designer can space purlins at 3–3.5 m on a portal frame or lay the sheet directly across trusses at 3 m without secondary purlins — a real saving on the steel frame and on erection. The wide pans also make it the trapezoidal used as a light structural deck: at 0.75–1.0 mm it carries foot traffic and light stored loads on mezzanine and plant platforms, walkways and canopies, and as a permanent shutter for thin concrete toppings where a full composite deck is not needed (for real composite floors see our composite floor deck). It is rolled from S280GD or S320GD galvanized coil — the higher yield matters at these spans — Z275 as standard, or from PPGI for coloured long-span roofs, in 0.50 (walls, close purlins) to 1.0 mm. Handling long deep sheets needs care: they are stiff along the ribs but must be lifted with spreader beams. We roll it to 14 m at Dilovası with flashings, profiled closures and the through-fix screws its 45 mm ribs need.

45/333 is normally S280GD Z275 galvanized 0.60–0.70 mm; PPGI in 9002 and 7016 for coloured long-span roofs.

Lengths and stock

Galvanized S280GD 0.60 and 0.70 mm are rolled on demand within 5–10 working days at any length to 14 m; 0.50, 0.80 and 1.0 mm, S320GD and PPGI colours are rolled to order in 2–3 weeks. Profiled closures, flashings and 5.5 × 75 mm screws for the 45 mm rib ship with the sheets.

Fixing, handling and installation

Fix through the rib crests at every purlin with 5.5 × 75–90 mm self-drilling screws (the rib is 45 mm) and 19 mm EPDM washers — every rib at every purlin on roofs above 2.5 m spans, side lap one rib stitched at 400 mm, end lap 250 mm with butyl tape (or full-length sheets). Deck use: fix every rib at every support and stitch laps at 300 mm; walk on the pans over supports until fixed. Lift long sheets with a spreader beam and suction or clamp lifters; cut with cold saw or nibbler. Profiled foam closures seal the deep ribs at eaves and ridge.

Where it is used

  • Long-span roofs with purlins at 3–4 m
  • Roofs laid directly on trusses without secondary purlins
  • Re-roofing over widely spaced timber or steel trusses
  • Light structural deck for platforms, walkways and canopies
  • Wall cladding with wide girt spacing
  • Outer sheet of built-up roofs with spacer systems

45/333 vs T38 vs composite deck

The T38 is cheaper per m² and enough for purlins at 2–3 m; 45/333 pays where the frame can drop purlins or the sheet must span trusses. For concrete floors on steel, the composite floor deck with its embossed ribs is the right product, not a roofing profile. The overview compares all profiles.

Price

45/333 is priced per m² by gauge and material on the roofing list, about 20–25 % above T38 for the heavier, higher-grade coil, and follows the galvanized coil price; the bands below are the month\'s indicative FOB Istanbul ranges for galvanized 0.60–0.70 mm and PPGI 0.60 mm.

Export and packing

45/333 sheets are packed 20–40 per pack on timber bearers, strapped with edge boards and PE-wrapped, with paper between coloured faces; 2 000–2 400 m² of 6 m sheets fill a 40' HC (≈ 14 t at 0.70 mm), and 12–14 m sheets travel on flat-racks or breakbulk from Derince with spreader-beam lifting. Closures and long screws are boxed separately. HS 7210.41 / 7210.70 or 7308.90.

Frequently asked questions

What is trapezoidal sheet 45/333?

A deep three-rib profile — 45 mm ribs at 333 mm pitch on a 1 000 mm cover — rolled from S280GD / S320GD galvanized or PPGI coil 0.50–1.0 mm for roofs with purlins at 3–4 m and for light decking.

How far can 45/333 span?

About 3.0 m at 0.60 mm and 3.4 m at 0.70 mm under 0.75 kN/m²; 1.0 mm passes 4 m — see the span table.

Can 45/333 be used as a floor deck?

As a light deck for platforms, walkways and canopies at 0.75–1.0 mm yes; for concrete composite floors use the embossed composite floor deck.

Which grade is used?

S280GD Z275 as standard, S320GD or S350GD for the longest spans and deck gauges; DX51D only for 0.50 mm wall sheet.

What screws does the 45 mm rib need?

5.5 × 75–90 mm self-drilling screws with 19 mm EPDM washers through the crest at every purlin.
