What is Pre-painted box sections?

Pre-painted box section is tube rolled from strip that already carries its final colour: galvanized strip (DX51D+Z100–Z140) coil-coated with a polyester top-coat to EN 10169 — the same PPGI family as coloured roofing sheet — slit, roll-formed and HF-welded with the seam repaired in the same colour in-line. The tube leaves the mill white, anthracite, red or black, straight and dry, ready to cut and bolt; the zinc under the paint gives it a corrosion life that a plain painted tube never has. It suits every product where parts are cut to length and assembled without much welding — fence and gate systems, railings, pergolas, greenhouses, racking, display frames, modular cabins — and it removes the paint shop from the fabricator's cost. The limits are welding (paint and zinc burn back and must be repaired) and cut ends (bare, touched up with matching spray). A primed variant, rolled from strip with an anti-rust primer instead of a colour coat, serves frames that will be top-coated after fabrication. Our Dilovası mill rolls 15×15 to 100×100 mm in 1.2–3 mm walls in the four standard RAL colours and other colours on order.

Polyester 20–25 µm gives 5–10 years outdoor colour retention; PVDF on request for coastal and high-UV sites.

Lengths and stock

Length 6 m (+30/−0), cut lengths ±2 mm. Stock: 20×20, 25×25, 30×30, 40×40, 50×50, 60×60 and 20×40, 30×50, 40×60, 40×80 in 1.2–2 mm in the four standard colours; 15×15 and 70–100 mm and other colours rolled to order. Tolerances per EN 10219-2.

Cutting, welding and repair

Cut with a cold saw (not abrasive — burns the paint); ends and drilled holes touched up with matching RAL spray (supplied on request). Welding burns the paint and zinc back 5–10 mm — weld sparingly, extract fumes, repair with zinc primer and RAL top-coat; for heavily welded frames use black tube and paint afterwards. Bolted and clamp systems keep the finish intact.

Pre-painted vs powder-coated tube

Powder coating after fabrication gives a thicker, seamless finish including welds and cut ends — the right route for gates and frames with many welds, using black square hollow section or cold-rolled box section. Pre-painted tube wins where parts are cut and bolted or clamped: no paint shop, no lead time, consistent colour, lower cost. Galvanized under the paint means it also outlasts a plain painted tube. Price

Painted tube is priced per ton on the coated-tube list, above pre-galvanized for the paint; primed tube is cheaper than painted. Bands below; other colours carry a minimum lot.

Export and packing

Pre-painted box sections is bundled in hexagonal or square packs of 0.8–2 t, strapped at four points with edge protectors, tagged with size, wall, grade, length and bar count; galvanized and painted bundles get paper or foam separators. A 40' HC takes 24–25 t of 6 m bars, a 20' about 20 t; 12 m bars go on flat-racks. HS 7306.61 (square/rectangular welded).

Frequently asked questions

What is pre-painted box section?

Square or rectangular tube rolled from pre-painted galvanized strip so it comes off the mill in colour (RAL 9016, 7016, 3009, 9005 as standard) — no painting after fabrication.

Which colours are available from stock?

White RAL 9016, anthracite RAL 7016, oxide red RAL 3009 and black RAL 9005 in the common sizes; other RAL colours to order with a minimum of about 10 t.

Can painted tube be welded?

Yes, but the paint and zinc burn back around the weld and must be repaired; for heavily welded frames use black tube and powder-coat afterwards.

What is primed box section?

Tube rolled from strip with an anti-rust primer (red-oxide or grey) instead of a top-coat — for frames that will be painted after fabrication; cheaper than colour-painted.

How long does the colour last outdoors?

Polyester over galvanized strip keeps its colour 5–10 years in a temperate climate; PVDF paint on request for coastal and high-UV sites.
