What is DC01 cold-rolled steel?
DC01 is EN 10130's first cold-rolled grade: D for flat products for cold forming, C for cold-rolled, 01 for the base quality. It is made by pickling hot-rolled coil (hence the Turkish DKP, from the French décapé), cold-reducing it to gauge, annealing and skin-passing — which gives the flat, smooth, scale-free surface and the tight thickness tolerance that hot-rolled sheet cannot offer. The standard limits yield to 280 MPa (typically 180–240), sets tensile at 270–410 MPa and elongation at 28 % minimum (A80), and allows 0.12 % carbon and 0.60 % manganese; Erdemir heats run around C 0.05, Mn 0.25. That makes DC01 a bending and light-forming grade: it folds, roll-forms, punches, spot-welds and takes paint or powder perfectly, but it is not guaranteed for drawing — DC03 and DC04 exist for that. Because it is skin-passed it may show stretcher strains (Lüders lines) if stored for months and then stretched; order it "non-ageing" only in DC03 and above. Surface A (normal) is the stock standard, B (best) for visible painted parts; finish m (matt) is standard, b (bright) for plating. Supplied oiled.

Forming, welding and painting
Bends flat (0 × t) in any direction; roll-forms into profiles, ducts and tubes; punches cleanly with 6–8 % clearance. Spot, seam and MAG welding without preparation — the oil film should be wiped near the weld for a clean bead. For painting: degrease (alkaline), phosphate or use a wash primer; the matt finish gives excellent adhesion for powder coating and e-coat. Plating (chrome, zinc) prefers the bright (b) finish. Not for deep drawing — use DC03/DC04 — and not for outdoor use without coating: cold-rolled sheet rusts within days if the oil is removed.
Where it is used
- Electrical cabinets, enclosures and switchgear panels
- Steel furniture, lockers, shelving and doors
- HVAC ducting, plenums and casings
- Drums, cans and light containers
- Roll-formed tubes (DKP boru) and light profiles
- Automotive and appliance brackets, covers and non-visible parts
DC01 vs DC03 vs DC04
DC01 bends; DC03 draws; DC04 deep-draws. Each step tightens the yield window and raises elongation (28 → 34 → 38 %) with cleaner chemistry, at 10–20 USD/t per step. Most sheet-metal work is DC01; move up only when a part is pressed with a draw depth or shows splits and orange-peel in DC01. For the same sheet with a zinc coating see DX51D galvanized; for a thicker, cheaper substrate with a scaled surface, hot-rolled coil or HRPO.

Certificates and testing
DC01 cold-rolled steel is delivered with the mill certificate EN 10204 3.1 — heat number, ladle analysis, tensile and impact results and the delivery condition. Third-party 3.2 certification (Lloyd's, BV, TÜV, SGS), ultrasonic testing to EN 10160 and extra Charpy tests at a lower temperature are ordered per lot.
How to order
Specify thickness × width × (length), surface (A / B), finish (m / b), oiling, coil weight, and tonnage; give the part type if you are unsure between DC01 and a drawing grade.

Frequently asked questions
What is DC01 steel?
The base cold-rolled low-carbon sheet of EN 10130 (1.0330, ex St 12): yield ≤ 280 MPa, tensile 270–410 MPa, elongation ≥ 28 %, for bending, roll-forming, punching and painting; known in Turkey as DKP sac.
What is DKP sheet?
The Turkish trade name for cold-rolled steel sheet (from décapé = pickled); the standard grade is DC01, the drawing grades DC03–DC06.
What is the equivalent of DC01?
DIN St 12, JIS SPCC, ASTM A1008 CS Type B, GB Q195/DC01 — all commercial-quality cold-rolled sheet.
What is the difference between DC01 and DC04?
DC04 is a deep-drawing grade with lower yield (≤ 210 MPa), 38 % elongation, guaranteed r/n values and cleaner chemistry; DC01 is the bending grade. DC04 costs about 20 USD/t more.
Does DC01 rust?
Yes — it is uncoated and protected only by a thin oil film; parts must be painted, powder-coated or plated, or the galvanized DX51D used instead.
What thickness of DC01 do you stock?
0.40–3.0 mm in 1 000–1 500 mm widths, as coil and cut sheet, at our Dilovası warehouse; thinner and thicker to order.
